Our History
One dark and stormy night, whilst down on weather, a new type of agency was imagined over a few beers.
Founded in 2012 by Mike McLean, a freelance offshore Geophysical Engineer, and Dave Cullen, freelance Marine Geophysicist, the intention of CMSourcing from the start was to make a difference. Dissatisfied with the other agencies on offer, Mike and Dave created CMSourcing to be an agency that both they and any other offshore contractor would be proud to work through. With a focus on rate transparency, knowledge sharing and a good amount of humour, CMSourcing was unleashed offshore!
Many years of hard work followed building the company network and reputation, with boots on the ground, working offshore and running the business. Finally, in 2018, a goal of reduced offshore time was realised, to spend more quality time with families, both directors settled into office roles and then CMSourcing really took off.
Over ten years in operation now and CMSourcing continues to get stronger and stronger. The company continues to develop both their staff and contractor base and expand into new sectors, whilst retaining the core values that have given CMSourcing such a formidable reputation.
As we grow, we will continue to build our relationship with you, the focus of our business. Times will change, we welcome that, but the core of our business will not.

Dave Cullen
Co-founder/ Managing Director
As co-founder and Managing Director, Dave continues to drive the agency forward with impressive year-on-year growth. Shaping CMSourcing’s fresh approach to sourcing personnel, he’s built a team that doesn’t just buy into the agency ethos, but also laugh at his dad jokes (which is handy, because his kids don’t). While his background in the geophysical survey sector as a Marine Geophysicist also doesn’t impress the kids much, it’s part of the reason that has made CMSourcing such a credible choice for clients and contractors.
Mike McLean
Co-founder/ Operations Director
After 10 years of working across a vast number of geophysical projects as a Survey Engineer, Mike co-founded CMSourcing knowing exactly what was needed to close the gap between clients and contractors. In his role as Operations Director, he’s been helping to connect people offshore with transparency and integrity ever since. Elsewhere, in his role as dad, you’ll find him - come rain or shine - driving his boys to football on Saturday mornings. And when he doesn’t have to have the pair of them in the back, you’ll find him on the back of his motorbike.
Molly Heaver
Operations Manager
After rising through the ranks since her arrival in 2018, Molly now manages the operations department, ensuring her team of client managers live up to her very high standards. With a background in logistics and personnel support - and a range of our highest value clients in the survey market on her books - it’s safe to say that building relationships is Molly’s speciality. When not driving the team, she enjoys driving to the beach with Ralph the beagle for a good long walk in the sand.
Brad Hassall
Survey Sector Manager
A sector manager who prefers the pressure of life at sea, than the pressure of picking the office playlist, Brad came to CMSourcing off the back of 7 years operating sonar onboard submarines in the Royal Navy. Building strong connections and honest lines of communications were his forte during life under the Arctic ice; now it’s his strength in the temperature-controlled climates of the CMSourcing office. Just don’t ask him to pick the next song.
Gary Snihur
Senior Client Manager
Gary joined CMSourcing in January 2022 as a client manager. He uses his offshore operational and training experience - from his 12 years in the Royal Marines - to facilitate and support contractors and clients alike. Since swapping HMS Ocean for the slightly quieter Somerset way of life, he revels in spending time with his wife, kids and Jax the dog - and occasionally revels in being a Liverpool fan.
Jonny Dunn
Sector Manager
With over 7 years offshore recruitment experience, Jonny joined at a pivotal point to establish and run our Scottish base of operations. An expert in subsea services you can be sure he'll make the right placement. Away from the office he enjoys placing his golf shots right too; the enjoyment levels may depend on which way the wind’s blowing that day mind…

Lauren joined the Edinburgh office in August 2024 with a strong background in recruitment across various industries. With a love of photography, Lauren’s well versed in picking out the detail of the bigger picture and talented candidates!
Paige Brunton

Joining CMSourcing in September 2024 Paige joins our client managers. New to the industry, but not new to client relations, she is confident in connecting people to where they should be. Now Somerset based, Paige still finds time to spread some magic and is part of Bridgwater Carnival, so if she’s not here you know she’ll be at a show!
Libby Colonna
Junior Client Manager
Libby’s customer service expertise stood her in great stead as she joined CMSourcing in October 2024. A strong relationship manager in the day and foodie festival goer by night. Libby is confident in a crowd but also exceled in previous remote working. These skills combined and brought to the busy headquarters means she understands the assignment and has slotted straight in.
Jess Kelly
Talent Acquisition Specialist
Joining the growing team in 2023, Jess started by supporting the operational client managers. However, with over 7 years’ experience as an operations coordinator, Jess took no time in progressing to Talent Acquisition Specialist and fronting the permanent recruitment desk.
Kelly Thomas
Finance Manager
Heading up the finance department, Kelly has excelled in her role for 5 years and counting. And it’s no surprise. Before adding CMSourcing to her CV, she’d gained a huge understanding of both practice and industry accounting in the 23 years since leaving college. Away from the spreadsheets, you’ll find her with her head in the sheets of a good thriller.
Rachel Merrigan
Lead Finance Assistant
As Kelly’s sidekick in the finance department, Rachel provides full accounting support. Slotting seamlessly into the role in March 2023, she’s been keeping the books ticking and the figures flowing ever since. Depending on the weather, you’ll either find her in a country pub or on a sun lounger. Or a sun lounger in a country pub if she can’t make up her mind.
Renee Adams
Finance Administrator
Working alongside Rachel and Kelly in our dedicated finance team, Renee meticulously maintains CMSourcing's bookkeeping to ensure efficiency for our contractors, clients, and suppliers. Her extensive experience, acquired from previous roles in Zimbabwe, has given her the title of fountain (well, source) of all knowledge.
Lily Hill
Administrative Assistant
Lily joined the finance department in September 2024. Supporting Kelly and the team with her financial administration skills, she’ll be getting payments to people. As well as an experienced administrator, we’ve heard she’s a dab hand in the kitchen, so office treats might be getting an upgrade!
Poppy Hunt
Compliance Officer
Since completing an advanced certificate in compliance, Poppy has had 8 years of practical experience across a number of different sectors. You’ll find the story of her first few months at CMSourcing in the Wikipedia page for the phrase ‘hit the ground running’. There is one thing that Poppy has always struggled to make comply though… Keith, her Dachshund.
Kay Jefferies
Marketing Executive
Kay joined CMSourcing in 2023 to lead the in-house marketing charge. She’s been the driving force behind a brand refresh, the new website (we might be biased, but we love it) and updated collateral for every nook and cranny she could shake a CMSourcing stick at. On Mondays, she deals with her most demanding clients (her kids) like a pro at home, but the rest of the week you can find her in the office running the social media, events and advertising campaigns.
