With Christmas just around the corner again, we have been reflecting on our 2023 Christmas Kindness mission. We reached so many organisations throughout December last year and it culminated in our cash donation to the Beacon Cancer Centre in Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.
The campaign was a busy month-long drive, and we really hope it inspired others to dig a little deeper and see what they could give. Little or a lot, it all made a difference to the people it reached.
Because of our mission, children in hospital had an opportunity to open a Christmas present whilst on the ward during the big day, several families had extra money to spend in the supermarket to keep them going during the school holidays and homelessness pressure was relieved for a moment with new warm and waterproof clothing. It was a little that meant a lot.
This year is no different. We want to give a little to mean a lot.
When we began to ask for suggestions on organisations to help the list returned was substantial. So many groups were identified as seeking support, we weren’t sure the best way to turn. But we knew we wanted to make this year’s largest gesture relevant to the ocean. Support the sea that supports us.
Whilst we turn our attention to the seas come the end of our festive drive, there will be support to local organisations along the way. We will be etching out some time in the busy month ahead to give them the boost we can provide. This will be in the form of donations and time spent with them on the ground.
Christmas may continue to be a struggle for some, so we hope these donations, of both time and money, improve someone’s day in one way or another. And we really hope they inspire you to do the same. If there is one thing we have realised this year it’s not to wait. So lets start now, give a little kindness and spread some joy. Charity isn’t just for Christmas, but it’s as good a time as any to start.
